Marty Arnold was raised in both Columbia and Kansas City, Missouri, and currently resides in Fairway, Kansas and is a studio member at Cherry Pit Collective. They hold an MA in Visual Art Education from the University of Kansas (2021) and a BFA in Ceramics and Art History from the Kansas City Art Institute (2019). Arnold has also undertaken study at the International Ceramics Studio in Kecskemét, Hungary. Now pursuing a graduate degree in Museum Studies at the University of Kansas, Arnold brings prior experience as a secondary art educator, university lecturer, and museum intern at both the Spencer Museum of Art and the KCAI Crossroads Gallery. Their creative practice investigates themes of craft, identity, and Midwestern culture, drawing upon traditionally domestic techniques such as quilting to explore narratives of place and belonging.
